Moving Forward (don't look back)

Ever notice How small the review mirror is in comparison to The rest of the windshield?

I'm pretty sure there is a reason for that, I'm no expert but I think its best we look forward while moving Forward. This might sound like common since but How often do we forget to do that with life. I mean our lives, only move one direction through time. Forward, yet we spend so much time looking back.

Sunday God reminded just how much I had been focused on things in the past, past hurts, past failures, and past sins. and How because I was giving so much attention to the past I was finding it hard to move forward. Here's 2 key verses God hit me with the first is From Isaiah 43

Isaiah 43:18
“Forget the former things;
    do not dwell on the past.
19 19 See, I am doing a new thing!
    Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
    and streams in the wasteland.

The other is from Luke 9

Luke 9: 61 Still another said, “I will follow you, Lord; but first let me go back and say goodbye to my family.”
62 Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”

Don't get caught up looking back, Some times we have good things to look back too, for example in this picture I had 2 friends in the back seat and the view over looking the valley in my rear view mirror. However if my focus was on what was behind me I wouldn't have seen the Cliff and the curve in the road ahead of me, and I would have never reached the Lake and seen an awesome new sunset.

God wants us to be growing in him, growth means new things. Reaching new heights, new depths, going to new places in our faith and the only way to get there is to look forward. In Isaiah God says " I am doing a new think!... do you not perceive it?" Something tells me if you don't see it its not because its not happening its because your not looking in the right direction. We tend to move in the direction that we are looking so if you want to move forward in life, in your walk with God, if you want to see new growth. Keep your eyes focused on Jesus, and follow him down the road ahead.
